Thanksgiving Fun Fact: Turkeys can fly

Canada is a major turkey exporter, thanks to our agri-food and transportation industries, powered by Canadian-produced energy.

According to the Statistics Canada, we exported 26.2 million kilograms of turkey meat in 2016. Exports went to 39 countries, including the United States, South Africa, Gabon and Jamaica.  That means that Canadian turkey products were sent by rail, truck, ship and plane to hungry consumers around the world.

The International Poultry Council reports that Canada was the 7th largest producer of turkey meat in the world as of 2013 data.
