Trans Mountain benefits local towns and communities

Local governments along the pipeline route will benefit from increased property tax revenues and more.

According to Trans Mountain, the Trans Mountain Expansion Project will increase property tax revenues by $530 million to municipal governments along the pipeline right-of-way over 20 years. This includes:

  • Burnaby: $264 million
  • Thompson-Nicola Regional District: $262 million
  • Yellowhead County: $45.6 million

As well, Trans Mountain has created a community benefits program which invests in communities that may be impacted by construction along the pipeline corridor. These investments are made in direct consultation with communities to meet their priorities, and includes things like infrastructure improvements, environmental stewardship commitments, and education and training opportunities for people in these communities.
