Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance, or COSIA, is an alliance of oil sands producers focused on accelerating the pace of improvement in environmental performance in Canada’s oil sands through collaborative action and innovation.
COSIA was created out of a recognition that oil sands producers need to take innovation and environmental performance in the oil sands to the next level. By collaborating rather than competing, oil sands companies can ensure that effective investments are made in technologies to reduce GHG emissions, reduce water use and reduce land disturbance, and that the best ideas are shared across the entire industry. This allows environmental performance to improve more quickly, more widely and more effectively.
COSIA brings together leading thinkers from industry, government, academia and the wider public to improve measurement, accountability and environmental performance in the oil sands. COSIA members include
