Natural gas is the cleanest-burning hydrocarbon: 40 per cent fewer GHG emissions are produced when it is used for power generation compared with coal. Also abundant and relatively inexpensive, natural gas can help countries that have historically used coal to produce electricity reduce their carbon footprint while meeting their energy security needs.
