Canadian business leaders are standing together to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. In an open letter published in the Financial Post on March 16, 2020, over 100 CEOs said, “The organizations and employers we represent compete fiercely every day but today we stand united in a shared battle against COVID-19. We urge every leder in the country to immediately shift focus to the singular objective of slowing the pace of transmission of the caronavirus. International experience shows that social distancing is the only effective method. While this will have significant economic impact in the short term, it is critical to weathering the story and will hasten recovery.”
The letter urges businesses to take actions such as:
- Urge employees to stop non-essential travel
- Facilitate work-from-home functionality
- Maintain essential services and protect the health of employees involved in providing those services.
The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers supports these measures and urges everyone to take all precautions to protect health.
