How does Canadian LNG stack up versus coal for GHGs?

Canadian liquefied natural gas produces way fewer greenhouse gas emissions than coal, taking into account production, transportation and combustion.

In a submission to the Joint Working Group forum for industry, federal and provincial governments, industry identified liquefied natural gas exports (LNG) from Canada's West Coast to Asian markets as a key opportunity: both to provide economic benefits to Canada, while lowering global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by displacing coal.
