With world-class energy resources available to meet growing international demand, a number of natural gas and oil pipelines have been proposed. These pipelines would transport Canadian energy to international markets, ensuring Canadians receive full value for those resources, instead of having to sell at a discount, robbing the Canadian economy out of billions of dollars.
Unfortunately, in some cases these pipelines have faced ongoing and lengthy legal challenges and regulatory delays. The Government of Alberta estimated that when price discounts on Canadian oil hit historic highs last fall, the Canadian economy was losing $80 million a day.
