Where does the world’s oil and natural gas come from?

Canada is a leading producer of oil and natural gas, and one of the few with strong environmental standards.

Where does your oil and natural gas come from? And in a world where energy demand is increasing (an estimated 27 per cent by 2040), where oil demand will increase due to rising use of petrochemicals, and natural gas demand will increase as emerging economies seek to decrease greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by displacing coal—shouldn’t that energy come from a nation like Canada?

Canada is one of the few top producers with an oil and gas industry open to investment (most are state-owned), with transparent reporting of environmental performance. We are a world-leader when it comes to our regulatory standards, environmental innovation and commitment to reducing GHGs.
