In December, Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA) published its annual report highlighting investments in technologies to reduce environmental impacts on land and water, and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and tailings.
More than a thousand technologies have been developed from a total investment of $1.6 billion. But numbers don’t tell the tale—each technology has been developed by scientists, engineers and workers at the oil sands working in small ways and big to ensure Canada’s oil sands resource can be developed responsibly and sustainably.
